Coaching Concepts

Designing your dream life

Everyone has a life’s mission—the question is, how much time have you spent designing yours? In coaching, we examine your life, both past and present, to help you design your life’s mission. Your life is comprised of 18 areas—career, time management, bad habits, family, community, money, and body, to name a few. In coaching, we explore what you want each area to look like, and help you get there.

Learning how you hold yourself back

Most of us are not living our dream lives, and this is because we have created a fascinating web of excuses, justifications, and bad beliefs about the way the world works that keep us stuck where we are. In coaching, we explore this web and learn how to create a different outlook on life.

Keeping your word to yourself

Odds are that you’re pretty good at keeping commitments to other people, such as finishing projects on deadline, or picking up your kids from day care. But most people are mediocre at keeping commitments to themselves, such as exercising regularly, or taking time to learn and explore. In coaching, we help you develop the muscle of honoring your personal goals by holding you accountable to a system of weekly promises to yourself.

Being a person of whom you are proud

In coaching, we help you design who you want to be in your daily life, and then develop a practice to be that person.

Learning how to communicate

Sometimes, what stands between us and our dreams is having a difficult conversation: with our boss, spouse, father, friend, neighbor, or another important person in our lives. We are afraid of being uncomfortable, afraid of looking bad, or afraid of the fall-out from the conversation, and so we keep tolerating not having the conversation. At the Handel Group, we believe that there is a way to successfully have just about any conversation, and we coach clients on how to communicate with grace and wisdom.

Learning how to make and clean up messes

People who go after their dreams inevitably must make messes. They try, they fail, they make mistakes, and they hurt people’s feelings. Most of us are not good at cleaning up messes, and so are afraid of making them in the first place; hence, we don’t go after our dreams. In coaching, we teach you the art of cleaning up messes through graceful communication and compassion.
